Sheffield Doc/Fest
Purpose
The purpose of Doc/Fest is to allow
local filmmakers to show off their films to an international audience and make
their names
Content
The event during the day shows screenings of local work from film makers in Sheffield but, during the night they have different events on, last years event was an 80's style roller disco.
Funding
The main source of funding is from
grants and sponsors such at The BBC. They also receive income from ticket sales
for the event.
Target Audience
The main target audience are
delegates (people from the film industry)
This also appeals to a niche
audience who enjoy independent documentary's and films.
Design/Style
The
event contains party's for entertainment which means that the music would be
loud
The
music was aimed at an older audience and made to fit the theme of the roller
disco so it was
music from the
70’s-80’s.
People
got dressed up in sparkly clothes to fit the theme of a roller disco in the
70’s-80’s.
The
logos were very prominent throughout
The
Branding was very prominent as all of there funding was given from sponsors or
grants
Location
The locations are: Channing Hall, The Chapel, The Showroom Cinema, The Crucible, The East End Bar, Howard Street Screen, ITV Town Hall, The Odeon, Library Theater, S1 Artspace, Site Gallery, The Hubs, The Workstation.
Suitability
As all of the venues are listed venues they must contain the equipment necessary to accommodate disabled personnel. The locations are all within the city center so they are right at the heart of Sheffield making it very appropriate for visitors
Legal/Ethical
No
under 18 as alcohol cannot be sold to under 18’s
Checking
passes/tickets so that unauthorized personnel do not enter- if you do not have
a ticket you
will be charged at the door

No
liquids near the ring
Ring
guards to look out for people who are in the ring and make sure nobody gets
hurt
First
aid bags are available in case any accidents occur

Event 2
Last Laugh Comedy Clubs
Purpose
The purpose of this event is to entertain
people with comedy. This event is the longest running
Comedy club in Sheffield.
Content
The Content of this event consists of a verity of comedy acts, with the likes of Paul Zerdin, Allan
Davis, Jimmy Carr and many, many more
Target Audience
The
target audience for this is people who enjoy comedy and a night out with
friends. (it is
very general
Design and Style
The branding is the Last laugh logo
which is displayed throughout. This is put up outside of the
venues and inside.
This also appears on the tickets.
Location and Suitability
The
location is the theaters such as the crucible in the center of Sheffield and is
very suitable
because as it is a listed venue, so it has disabled ramps and
toilets.
The
theaters are located within the center of Sheffield so they are conveniently placed for everyone
who lives in Sheffield to get to it.
Legal/Ethical
They
have an alcohol license so that they can sell alcohol to personnel above the
age of 18
There
is no copyright issues as it is all original material from the comedians.
Health and Safety
They
have first aid kits set out for emergency's

risk assessment is taken to make sure that there is a reduced chance of injury.
Event 3
Sheffield Food Festival
Purpose
The purpose is to allow chefs to
have their food tasted by people all over Sheffield and allows
people to test
their culinary skills.
Content
Chefs come from all over Sheffield and
set up stands for people to try their food and it allows them
to experiment.
Target Audience
The target audience for this event
will be people who are passionate/interested in food or a family
looking for a
nice day out.
Design and Style
The logo is featured predominantly
throughout the festival and the chefs/company's have their own
logos for their
products
Location
Sheffield City Center
Town Hall,
Surrey Street, Sheffield, S1 2HH
Suitability
The
location is suitable for local chefs and the people of Sheffield as it is in
the city center and the
town hall.
The
problem of disabled lifts/stairs will not be a problem as it is outside or in a
government building
which is required to contain all the requirements for
disabled people
Legal and Ethical
The chefs must have a list of ingredients used so that any allergic reaction can be avoided
A risk assessment must be taken out to ensure that there is a smaller risk of an accident occurring
Health and safety
As stated before the chefs must have a list of ingredients or tell customers what is inside the food
as to avoid an allergic reaction
First aid kits are station around the venue in case of an emergence
Event 4
Millennium Galleries
Purpose
The purpose of the Millennium Galleries is to showcase different events and Exhibitions.
Content
There are many different vents such at Inside the Circle of Fire: A sheffield Sound Map, that are exhibited every day and give the people of Sheffield information and insight into the worlds history and media.
Target Audience
The target audience for this event varies greatly and appeals to all sorts of people interested in different things
Design and Style
The overall design and style depends on the event/exhibition that is taking place. The logo is predominantly displayed throughout the galleries.
Location/Suitability
Millennium Gallery, Arundel Gate, Sheffield, S1 2PP. This location is very convenient for the people of sheffield as it is close to the centre and allows for a convenient access area.
Health and Safety
The Galleries have health and safety points throughout the area and also all of the exhibits are checked to make sure there is a reduced risk of injury.
Event 5
Mary Street
Purpose
the purpose of this event is to raise awareness of local artists and the old dis-used warehouse in sheffield.
Content
The event has art from local artists and is a way for them to get there name out there in the art world. this event was only open to people who were invited.
Target Audience
The audience are people who are key decision makers in the media industry.
The audience would range from an age of 25-60.
Design and Style
The music had to reflect the venue so and the audience so it would be pieces from the 80's/90's and as this is a formal event the music was not very loud so that conversations were not interupted. The staff were also dressed in branded t-shirts and were all A-Level media students who want to get into the media industry
Food
The food was prepared by an award winning chef and it was at a reduced price as it gave him freedom to experiment.
Location/Suitability
It was a one floor venue so there was no need for a disabled ramp to be put into place and the venue had no sound system so they had to bring one in. the location was in Mary Street.
Legal/Ethical
It is not an official venue so a full alcohol licence is not needed but some form of licence is requierd so they got a temporary events licence. There were no copy write issues as it is all there own original work.
Health and Safety
they had to do a risk assessment as to make sure that none of the fire exits were blocked and that a wires were taped down as to reduce the tripping hazard. The staff must all be correctly trained so they do not hurt themselves.
